10 things u can do.....

So, i was reading yesterday newspaper(yeah, i know i'm like so outdated)...kekekke.....but it's ok....at least i found sumthing useful...anyway, in conjunction of the Earth day yesterday, one of the local paper has given some tips on how to save our poor mother earth... Well, as we know, global warming is caused by the releas of carbon dioxide and other heat-trapping gases into the Earth's atmosphere. Then, the gases tend to act like a thick blanket, trapping the sun's heat and causing the planet to warm up... So, as an individual, these are 10 simple things we can do to combat this...yayyy:

  • Change a light : Replacing one regular light bulb with an ENERGY-SAVING light bulb will save 67.5kg of carbbon dioxide a year.
  • Drive Less : Walk, bike, carpool or take mass transit more often..(carpool anyone?i'm staying in subang...hehehe)
  • Recycle more : We can save 1,080kg of carbon dioxide per year by recycling just half of your househlod waste.
  • Pump up your tyres : Keeping your car tyres inflated properly can improve petrol mileage by more than 3%. Every4.4 litres of petrol saved keeps 9kg of carbon dioxide out atmosphere.
  • Use less hot water : It takes a lot of energy to heat water. Use less hot water by installing a low-flow showerhead. (yayy...me house no water heater...in directly, i'm helping th earth..proud of meself...kekekek)
  • Avoid products with packaging : We can save 540kg if we cut down on our garbage by 10% (me still figure out on this...duno how to get rid of the garbage without using plastic bags)
  • Adjust your air-con : Moving the thermostat just 2 celsius can save about 900kg of carbon dioxide a year. (me no air cond at home...see, i'm a very good human who trying to protect the Earth)
  • Plant a tree : A single tree will absorb over a 1,000kg of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.
  • Turn off electric devices : Switching off our Tv, DVD player, hi-fi set and computer when we are not using them will save our thousands of kilogrammes of carbon dioxide a year.
  • Watch An Inconvenient Truth on HBO (i tink i was show on HBO yesterday) : Watch what former US vice-president Al Gore has to say about the state of planet Earth and share it with our friens....(i'm sharing with u guys...weeeee...)
